GEORGIA GROWTH FUND (GGF) HOSTED GEORGIAN ECONOMIC AND TRADE DELEGATION VISIT TO CHINA POWER ENGINEERING CONSULTING GROUP CORPORATION TO DISCUSS ENERGY COOPERATION
A Georgian economic and trade delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Khvtisiashvili, visited the Beijing headquarters of China Power Engineering Consulting Group CORPORATION (CPECC) today. The two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening investment cooperation in the energy sector and the role of advancing sustainable energy transition, especially for a country like Georgia, which is rich with all the necessary resources. This visit aimed to implement the strategic cooperation agreement between the two countries and further expand bilateral economic and trade opportunities.
During the visit, Deputy Minister Khvtisiashvili held talks with CPECC Chairman Luo Bixiong. The meeting was attended by representatives from Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, government and Georgia Growth Fund (GGF), as well as senior executives from CPECC.
GEORGIA: STRENGTHENING COOPERATION TO DRIVE ENERGY TRANSFORMATION
Deputy Minister Khvtisiashvili highly praised CPECC's technological expertise and extensive experience in global renewable energy projects. He emphasized that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 30 years ago, Georgia and China have maintained a strong and friendly partnership, with Georgia recognizing the critical role of Chinese enterprises in its energy transition. He specifically highlighted the strategic cooperation agreement signed during the Georgian Prime Minister’s visit to China in 2022, which laid a solid foundation for bilateral collaboration. Building on this, Georgia looks forward to accelerating practical cooperation in the energy sector.
The Deputy Minister stressed that Georgia is committed to reducing its reliance on traditional hydropower and is focusing on the development of solar, wind, gas-fired, and hydrogen energy projects to enhance energy security and promote sustainable development. "As a key hub between Europe and Asia, Georgia benefits from a strategic geographic location and an open investment environment. We welcome CPECC and other Chinese enterprises to participate in the upgrade of our energy infrastructure, regional grid interconnection, and investment in renewable energy projects," he added.

CHINA: SUPPORTING GEORGIA’S ENERGY DEVELOPMENT WITH A COMPREHENSIVE INDUSTRY CHAIN
CPECC Chairman Luo Bixiong welcomed the delegation and provided a detailed introduction to the company’s comprehensive industry chain advantages in energy planning, engineering construction, and investment operations. He noted that CPECC, as the world’s second-largest and China’s leading engineering design enterprise, regards Georgia as a key strategic market. The company has successfully implemented multiple projects in Georgia and neighboring countries, accumulating extensive local experience.
Luo Bixiong stated, “CPECC is committed to leveraging its technological expertise and global project experience to help Georgia build a new energy system centered on renewable energy. We look forward to deepening cooperation in green energy development, power grid upgrades, cross-border electricity interconnection, and sustainable socio-economic development. Our goal is to provide comprehensive support for Georgia in achieving its energy transition objectives.”

EXPLORING FUTURE COOPERATION
Before the meeting, the Georgian delegation toured CPECC’s corporate exhibition hall, gaining insights into the company’s development history, core technologies, and international engineering achievements. CPECC has expressed a strong desire to invest in Georgia's energy infrastructure and has taken the initiative to propose organizing a fact-finding delegation to visit Georgia in March, intending to discuss potential investment opportunities further. Georgian Delegation extended a warm welcome to that initiative.
This visit underscores Georgia’s commitment to attracting foreign investment and accelerating energy diversification. It also injects new momentum into bilateral cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. CPECC’s participation is expected to provide critical technological support and financial backing for Georgia’s clean energy development, contributing to regional energy security and economic resilience.
